  • Official name of country: Republic of Ireland
  • Population: 4.2 million
  • Capital City: Dublin, it is the most populated city in Ireland.
  • National Anthem: The Soldier’s Song.
  • National Animal: Irish Setter.
  • National Food: Irish stew, Boxty (Potato Pankcake), Shepherd’s Pie and Soda Bread.
  • National Sport: Gaelic Football.
  • Languages: While all locals speak English, Irish (Gaelic) is the true language of the country.
  • Ireland is called the Emerald Isle because of how green and beautiful it is. The high rocky cliffs surrounded by the ocean makes it even more beautiful.
  • The Irish flag is green, white and orange. The green symbolizes the people of the south (The Irish Catholic), and orange, the people of the north (the Irish Protestant). White represents the hope for peace between them and which brings them together as a nation.


  • The harp is the symbol of Ireland. Other important symbols are the Celtic cross and the Shamrock.

Leprechauns on the other hand are small male creatures that play tricks on humans. They have hidden pots of gold and can grant you wishes if you catch them.
